Overview
The Gokyo Valley Trek is a well-liked, moderate trekking route in Nepal’s Everest area. Typically, this hike begins and ends in Lukla. Strolling around a charming Sherpa village, taking in the local customs and having the chance to see monasteries and engage with people. Compared to the Everest Base camp route, this trekking route is typically less congested.
This Gokyo Valley trek’s final endpoint is Gokyo Valley, which is located 4750 meters above sea level. It is situated between the two main high passes in the Khumbu region, Renjo La Pass (5360m) and Cho La Pass (5420m). If hikers choose not to retrace their steps along the same route, there are two alternative routes to continue their journey: after crossing Cho La Pass, one can continue on to Everest Base Camp Trekking.
Additionally, the sixth Gokyo Major Lake is another reason for this village’s fame.
Even a day’s worth of quick hiking—three hours—will get you to the third lake of the oligotrophic Gokyo Lakes, the highest freshwater lake in the world. Gokyo Ri, a nearby mountain at 5357 meters, provides a broad perspective of other high peaks, including Everest, Lhotse, Makalu, and Cho Oyu.
