Overview

One of the technical and stunning peak located in the solukhumbu District of Nepal ,part of Mahalangur Himal sub range known as Ama Dablam situated at an 6812m /22349ft elevation where in Nepali Ama means ‘mother’ and Dablam means ‘Necklace’ which said a traditional double-pendant worn by Sherpa women.

Having itself very unique pyramid shape and steep face which change it shape and beauty during whole trekking trails in khumbu region. The first ascent of this mountain was made in 1961 by an expedition lead by sir Edmund Hillary and Mike gill.

Ama dablam offer several climbing routes where the southwest ridge being the most commonly attempted .To climb this mountain climber requires technical rock climbing,mixed terrain and proper acclimatization due to its high elevation. Talking about its difficulty it considered challenging due to its steep sections, technical difficulties and unpredictable weather conditions . Ama Dablam camp l is usually at around 5700m , camp ll at around 6100m and incase of needed camp lll higher up the mountain depends on the specific route taken where now a days many climber’s attempt summit directly from camp ll . Summit day usually start early in the morning to take advantage of favorable weather facing steep snow ,ice slopes, rock sections so on.

On the top of summit after facing all of above challenges you will be blessed with Himalayan peaks including Mt. Everest ,Lhotse, Nuptse, and iconic mountain of other region . Overall it took 20-25 day’s to attempt this stunning mountain depends on capability and time duration of climber during the expedition . Climber’s also attempted this technical mountain before attempting 8000m mountain of khumbu region Specially Mt. Everest .

Itinerary

On arrival at Kathmandu International Airport via respective airlines, you will be received by our staff or guide with a warm welcome, and then you will be transferred to a hotel in the hub of the city.

It’s your preparation day, where your guide will help you to recheck your gear also help you to buy or rent your personal gear or anything else that you will need during your trip.

Early in the morning, after a 30-35 minute flight to Lukla, you will enjoy the Himalayan Mountain Range (Tenzing-Hillary Airport), then begin the 3-hour trek, which will take you to a beautiful small village along the Dudh Koshi river called Phakding.

Trekking through the Sagarmatha National Park by crossing the suspension bridge, which includes the highest and longest bridge in the Khumbu region, and a few hours of ascending will take you to the gateway of the Everest base camp called Namche Bazar in front of Mt. Kongde Ri.

Hiking for 3–4 hours to Everest View Point (3880m) or Khumjung Village (3780m) for acclimatization, you will soak up the views of iconic mountains like Ama Dablam (6812 m), Mt. Thamserku (6608 m), Mt. Kongde Ri (6187 m), Mt. Lhotse (8516 m), and Mt. Everest (8848.86 m) and stay the night at Namche Bazar.

After proper acclimatization, you are ready to trek one of the beautiful and religious monasteries called Tengboche monastery by descending and ascending for a few hours and then gradually heading for an hour through pine forest, crossing a suspension bridge, and enjoying the stunning views of Mt. Ama Dablam, Mt. Everest, Mt. Lhotse, and Mt. Nuptse before reaching Pangboche.

Finally, after 2-3 hours of walking, it will take you to the base camp of Ama Dablam, where you will view the mountain closer than before and make a steep descent towards Imja Khola. Then cross a suspension bridge over the river, climb the trails toward the base camp, and rest for the day.

Once you reach Ama Dablam Basecamp, to better acclimate, you will rest and prepare yourself for higher elevations toward Camps 1 and 2 with your guide (Sherpa). Overall, it’s 12 days to acclimatize and summit-push during the expedition.

During this acclimatization, your sherpa will again train you to use climbing gear such as crampons, belay devices, and ascenders. She will also train you in skills like technical rock climbing, snow climbing, and so on, and prepare you according to the plan. After proper acclimatization, your sherpa will make decisions considering the current situation at the Ama Dablam summit.

After your summit, slowly you will make it back to camp 2 or base camp, depending on how tired you’re during your climbing, especially since you have to keep yourself hydrated and get proper rest to adapt to the elevation.

After the successful summit of the Ama Dablam, you can now complete your remaining packaging and slowly prepare for the descent, as it’s a short walk. We will then cross the Imja River through a suspension bridge to reach Pangboche.

Early in the morning, you will start your trek slowly toward Namche Bazaar through the same trail. Once you reach Namche Bazaar, it has a lot to offer you after a really adventurous and memorable trek and climbing, such as good cafes, restaurants, bakeries, massage therapy, bars, and so on.

So today we will be adding one more extra camp during our walk, which will make this trek pretty longer than usual. Passing through many Sherpa villages like Phakding, Manjo, Jorsalle, Ghat, etc. along the Dudhkoshi River, we reach Lukla, where we will end our trek.

Early in the morning, you will fly back to Kathmandu, then drive to the hotel (BB plan) and relax for the day.

Well, it’s going to be your last night as per your itinerary, so one of our staff members will help you sight-see according to your interests, find gifts for your loved ones while shopping, and finally, have a traditional cuisine farewell dinner from the Top Trek Spirit family.

After spending an adventurous holiday in Nepal, we will drop you off at the airport from the hotel with lots of unforgettable memories and love on behalf of the Top Trek Spirit family.
